Understand local data and AI authorization

Distinguish local storage, model processing, source sensitivity, and file access.

On this page

Local storage does not mean all AI processing happens on your device. Whether content is sent elsewhere depends on the selected model, tools, and task authorization.

Screenshots show the Chinese application interface in a Test environment with example data.

Three data scopes

ScopeWhat to check
Local sources and outputsStorage location, backup, and recovery.
Content sent to a modelSelected material, passages actually read, and the chosen service.
External tool accessPlugin connection, network destination, and requested operation.

Cloud models receive relevant content needed for the task. For local-model configurations, check the endpoint's actual location; remote and LAN services use that network environment.

Source sensitivity and task access

Supported readers expose source-sensitivity controls; confidential content is labeled as disabling generation. Do not ignore a source's permitted use to make a task run.

Review selected sources and working directory before sending. Reading sources does not authorize changing them, and installing a skill does not expand task permissions. See permissions.

Agent permissions separate current-conversation settings from defaults for new conversations.

  1. 1Set stop conditions, permissions, and extra folders for the current conversation.
  2. 2The lower defaults apply to conversations created later.

Check current permissions and future defaults separately

Agent permissions separate current-conversation settings from defaults for new conversations.

Keys and migration

Service keys stay in local secure storage and do not travel with Vault content copies. Conversation bodies remain intact in history migration packages. If a key was pasted into a message, address that message before export.

Synchronization and backup

The product does not include a built-in cloud sync service. Respect the library's synchronization boundaries when choosing an external tool; do not synchronize a live database like an ordinary file. Use product backups for recoverable copies.

Next step

Read backup and recovery for recoverable copies and history migration for transferable conversation data.

Configure model, media, and connected services as needed. See each article for requirements.
