Set task permissions and stopping conditions

Choose file and network access and set optional limits for a task.

On this page

Before sending a file task, check the working directory and permissions near the composer. Reading sources, writing work files, and changing the knowledge library are separate authorizations.

Choose access

ModeMeaning
Read-onlyCannot modify work files.
Workspace accessCan read and write within the authorized directory; some out-of-scope operations and command network access need confirmation.
Full accessStill protects application data, databases, and credentials; it is not unrestricted knowledge-library access.

Use Agent permissions in Settings for defaults and working-directory rules. Inspect the affected files, network access, or library changes when approval is requested. You can decline and narrow the task.

Open run permissions before sending. Read-only, workspace access, and full access have different scopes.

  1. 1Read each description and choose the scope appropriate to this task.
  2. 2Also check the working folder to avoid saving files in the wrong place.

Choose read-only or workspace access

Open run permissions before sending. Read-only, workspace access, and full access have different scopes.

Set stopping conditions

Expand the task's stopping conditions in the permissions control next to its working directory. Optional limits cover time, main-model usage, estimated cost, or repeated failures. Empty defaults do not impose a fixed step count.

Elapsed time includes waiting for approval. Cost limits cover countable main-model usage, not every auxiliary model or external-service charge.

Agent permissions separate current-conversation settings from defaults for new conversations.

  1. 1Set stop conditions, permissions, and extra folders for the current conversation.
  2. 2The lower defaults apply to conversations created later.

Set current-task permissions and new-conversation defaults

Agent permissions separate current-conversation settings from defaults for new conversations.

Confirm library organization

When asking an Agent to add or remove sources from a project, review the specific sources and association changes before approval. Whole-source and passage permissions differ. Full access does not bypass these confirmations, and Wiki changes use their own proposal review process.

Inspect work after stopping

A limit, cancellation, or application restart can leave a task needing verification. Check the working directory and existing outputs before continuing. Stopping does not establish that all changes were rolled back.
