Connect plugins and MCP tools

Add a connection, test available tools, and select it for a task.

On this page

Plugin connections let the workspace use external tools. Establishing the connection and selecting it for a particular task are separate steps.

Screenshots show the Chinese application interface in a Test environment with example data.

Add a connection

  1. Open Plugins or MCP connections in Settings.
  2. Use the service's instructions to choose a service-address or local-program connection.
  3. Enter a name, address or launch command, and any required authentication details.
  4. Save and test the connection.
  5. Inspect the discovered tools and their purposes.

Local-program connections execute a program on your computer, so use a trusted command. Keys are stored locally; do not paste them into conversation text or skill instructions.

Before adding an MCP connection, review its address, authentication, and permissions. This example has not created a connection yet.

  1. 1Enter the server address and authentication method supplied by the service.
  2. 2Read the permissions and confirm only if you trust the connection source.

Configure an MCP connection and review its permissions

Before adding an MCP connection, review its address, authentication, and permissions. This example has not created a connection yet.

Use it in a conversation

Select the plugin from the composer's add menu, then describe the operation. Review the target and effects when a tool requests approval.

Discovering tools does not establish that a business operation succeeded. Inspect the returned result and verify the destination after write operations.

The composer add menu offers attachments, skills, image generation, CodeMode, and plugins. A visible entry does not mean its service is configured.

  1. 1Attach a file, link, or temporary note for this conversation.
  2. 2Choose a skill, generate an image, or toggle CodeMode.
  3. 3Search for a connected plugin here.

Disable, reauthorize, or delete

Connection details provide reauthorization, enable, disable, and delete actions. Disabled connections cannot be selected by new tasks. Deleting a connection removes its stored local key but preserves conversation history.

Next step

Read about task permissions. Before repeating work in the background, check automation requirements.

Configure model, media, and connected services as needed. See each article for requirements.
