Verify citations and sources

Return to original passages and distinguish evidence, inference, and unknowns.

On this page

Citations make evidence inspectable, but do not automatically establish that every conclusion is correct.

Screenshots show the Chinese application interface in a Test environment with example data.

Check one conclusion

  1. Open the source link from the answer, report, or output.
  2. Read the cited passage and enough surrounding context.
  3. Compare the people or objects, numbers, conditions, and dates with the conclusion.
  4. If the answer goes beyond the source, ask for an inference label or an explicit statement that the source does not establish it.
  5. Preserve sources when saving the output.

A specific passage is more useful than a website homepage. If a source changed, inspect the version retained with the output.

Test research report: check quotations in the side panel, then download the report or store it in the Library. Its sample text is not a real research finding.

  1. 1Open sources and evidence in the side panel.
  2. 2Compare each conclusion with its original evidence.
  3. 3After checking, download the report or store it in the Library.

Compare research conclusions with source evidence

Test research report: check quotations in the side panel, then download the report or store it in the Library. Its sample text is not a real research finding.

Compare multiple sources

Keep the evidence from each source distinct. Record conflicting claims and their scope instead of forcing them into a single conclusion.

A useful follow-up is: “Separate source facts, your inferences, and unresolved questions. Give the source for each.”

When evidence is unavailable

Check text extraction, selected sources, and whether the task actually read the relevant passages. Library search hits do not mean the full text was read.

Retain unsupported statements as questions for investigation rather than confirmed knowledge.

Next step
