Why it matters

It keeps word timing as the source of truth, so transcript edits, subtitle lines and reversible video cuts stay synchronized.

A local-first Mac editor for transcribing, translating, subtitling and cutting spoken video from its text.

BaoCut interface

BaoCut is a macOS app for taking spoken media from a raw file to an editable transcript, aligned subtitles and a cleaned-up talking-head cut. Transcription, forced alignment and speaker identification run on-device; AI steps such as polishing and translation arrive as reviewable suggestions. Because every word retains its timing, deleting text can become a soft, reversible cut while captions stay in sync. It exports SRT, VTT, ASS, Markdown or captioned video, and exposes the same projects to its CLI and Agent Skill. BaoCut requires Apple Silicon and macOS 15 or later.
