Mono Color: One- and Two-Ink Editorial Print
Added 2026-09-01Turn a theme, phrase, object, article idea, or photograph into an original editorial print image. It defaults to two clearly assigned plates, stays pure one-ink when explicitly requested, and binds negative space, halftone reproduction, type tension, and registration drift into one inspectable visual system.
The skill resolves every request into a stable recipe before it writes the generation prompt: subject and intent, exact wording, faithful reproduction or abstract symbol extraction, ratio, substrate, print mode, palette and plate roles, layout, empty paper, type hierarchy, and mechanical reproduction process. Unspecified work uses a 3:4 ratio, Neutral White, roughly 35% empty paper, and a controlled Cobalt-and-Terracotta duotone. The dominant plate usually carries 70%–85% of the printed area; the accent is reserved for annotations, selected objects, or overprint intersections. It switches to one ink only when the request explicitly asks for monochrome or names a single ink. Supplied photographs can preserve identity faithfully or be reduced to two to four recognition anchors for a looser reconstruction. Each run delivers a generated raster image, the exact production prompt, and a short recipe covering palette, layout, type, and print process; without image-generation capability it states the limitation and returns the prompt. Machine-readable design-system catalogs, evaluation cases, and validators make the rules inspectable. For Claude Code, clone the repository to ~/.claude/skills/mono-color and restart; other agents can load the root SKILL.md. The source and scripts are MIT-licensed, but the artwork under examples is excluded and must not be copied or redistributed.
