Claude

Anthropic's AI assistant for thoughtful writing, reasoning, and analysis.

Claude interface

Claude is Anthropic's assistant, and its centre of gravity is reading and writing at length rather than tool-calling breadth. The large context window means a full report, contract or codebase goes in as one piece instead of being chunked, which changes the kind of question you can ask of it — cross-references across a hundred pages stay available. It also tends to flag uncertainty rather than paper over it. For knowledge work where a confident wrong answer costs more than a hedged one, that default is the feature.

Best for

  • Long-document reading and synthesis
  • Careful writing and editing
  • Reasoning tasks where being wrong is expensive

Key features

  • Large context window for whole reports and codebases
  • Artifacts for iterating on documents and code side by side
  • Projects to keep reference material attached to a workspace

Why it matters

Long context plus a conservative default posture makes it the better fit when the task is to read a lot and not overclaim.
